A new choir is forming in the Bay Area, and what could be more Estonian than coming together to sing? With the goal of performing in the 2019 Laulupidu in Tallinn, the group is open to all who want a chance to meet and sing with fellow Estonians and Estonian music enthusiasts.
The choir had a successful first rehearsal in early July, with 14 singers – a great start. To see what the choir is up to, check out the practice tracks that director Brigitte DossJohnson has posted (www.brigittedossjohnson.com/koor/index.html) that you can download and practice with.
The next rehearsal will be Saturday, July 22 from 3-5 PM in Novato. To accommodate as many people as possible, rehearsal locations will alternate between the North Bay, South Bay, and East Bay. We will continue to rehearse over the summer and settle on a more regular schedule in the fall. Singers are encouraged to attend as many rehearsals as possible, while acknowledging that busy schedules and travel times are a challenge.
If you are interested in singing with the group, please contact Brigitte Doss-Johnson ([email protected]) or Mai-Liis Bartling ([email protected]). We are especially looking for another tenor or bass. It is not necessary to speak Estonian or have previous choir experience – we are all learning together!
