The Absolute Ensemble led by Estonian conductor Kristjan Järvi, got together with composer Gene Pritsker, HAUSCHKA and Folk Music Star Maarja Nuut to revive the Nordic Spirit in a unique Music Show world tour 2017-2018. World premiere: November 2, 2016 at National Sawdust, New York City.

Celebrating Nordic music in a brand new way

In celebration of Nordic cultures, their connection to the purity of nature, creativity of culture and progressiveness of society, “Lost Tribes” promotes the musical heritage of the Finno-Ugric Music and interprets them into a modern sound.

In combination with Kristjan Järvi’s Absolute Ensemble´s fusion of rock, big band and acoustic sound mixed with urban electronics, Hauschka adds his prepared Piano Sound on top of Maarja Nuut´s hypnotic looped folk fiddling and singing that will put you into a trance.

The world premiere of this brand new live music performance was on November 2, at National Sawdust, New York City. This show was the official launch of the upcoming world tour 2017-2018, in which Lost Tribes will play at the biggest musical festivals around the world.

Kristjan Järvi & Absolute Ensemble

Born in Estonia, Kristjan Järvi emigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in New York City. He is an accomplished pianist and graduated from Manhattan School of Music followed by conducting studies at the University of Michigan.

Created in 1993 by Kristjan Järvi, Absolute Ensemble is one of the longest running, independently-operated chamber ensembles in New York City.

Maarja Nuut is a fiddler and singer from Northern Estonia. Her music combines traditional dance tunes, songs, and stories with live electronics to create an intricate layered soundscape in a space where minimalism and experimental music meet the village musical traditions of pre-war Europe.

Maarja has toured the USA, Canada and Europe and won the Artist Award at Tallinn Music Week. Her second album, ‘Une meeles’, was released internationally on June 3, 2016.
