Kolm näitlejat ja kirg

Aastal 1562 sündinud hispaania näitekirjanik Lope de Vega olevat öelnud, et  teatritegemiseks pole vaja muud, kui saepukke ja laudu ning kahte näitlejat ja kirge.  A. H. Tammsaare romaani “Ma armastasin sakslast” ainetel loodud Elmo Nüganeni lavastus, millega Tallinna Linnateater esines New Yorgi Eesti  Kultuuripäevade raames 15. ja 16. aprillil Manhattanis asuvas ATA (American Theatre of Actors) teatris, tõestas järjekordselt, et Lope de Vega maksiim on maksev tänapäevalgi.  

August Kitzbergi näidendis “Libahunt” väidab küll orjapõlve ajastu Vanaema, et “kirge meie ei tundnud”, aga kolme tooliga tühjal laval esitatud Tammsaare-Nüganeni teoses leidub piisavalt esimese Eesti Vabariigi-aegseid kire variatsioone ja permutatsioone.  

Tammsaare oli varemgi selle teemaga tegelenud, eriti romaanis “Elu ja armastus” Irma ja Rudolfi ning “Tõe ja Õiguse” IV osas Karini ja Indreku vahekordades.  Siinses lavastuses mõtiskleb noormees ihast, kuna neiule on “kõik nagu kuuma rauaga südamesse põletatud.”

Nüganen on tugevasti kärpinud romaani teksti. Esitatut võiks seetõttu kõrvutada näiteks oletusliku Shakespeare’i “Romeo ja Julia” etendusega, milles kohtame vaid nimitegelasi. Ainuüksi Tammsaare majaproua puudumine, kuigi temast oli vahetevahel juttu, võrduks näiteks Julia amme väljajätmisega. Ilmselt tegeleme siin mitte niivõrd tavalise dramatiseeringuga kui “Ma armastasin sakslast” ainetel loodud iseseisva näidendiga, mis toob lavale teose kolm peategelast.  

Vaest eesti üliõpilast ja korporanti Oskarit kehastas Tõnn Lamp.  

“Saksaplika” Erika/Erica osas dubleerisid Külli Teetamm, kelle etteastet siinkirjutaja nägi, ja (järgmisel õhtul) Ursula Ratasepp. Erica parunist vanaisa mängis Aleksander Eelmaa.  

Kirge tunnevad – või vähemalt räägivad sellest – kõik kolm. Parun, kes väidab, et ta püüab elu ja armastust juhtida mainib, et tänapäeval vahetatakse naisi nagu särke. Oskari suhu on pandud korporantide loosung “naised, viin ja laul,” ent tal ei ole julgust neiuga põgeneda.  Erica pihib kirjas, mille Oskar saab alles pärast tütarlapse surma, et noormees oleks pidanud olema häbematu ja robust, sest Erica salajane, ent kirglik soov oli sel saatuslikul õhtul end Oskariga “kompromiteerida”.

Etenduse kõrgpunktiks osutus viimistletud näitlemine. Pidevalt laval viibiva Tõnn Lambi Oskar nuttis ja naeris, sosistas ja karjus ning muutus liikumatuks ja halliks kivimürakaks, kui ta unistuste maailm purunes. Aleksander Eelmaa paruni saksapärane hääldamisviis lisas etendusele ajaloolist realismi. Eriti hingestatuks ja nüansirikkaks kujunes Külli Teetamme Erica. Tema tundeelamuslik skaala liikus kohmetunud ja süütust noorukist rebasenahkadega kaetud, ent hingeliselt haige daamini.         

Tänu Elmo Nüganeni dramaturgilisele võlukepile tagas “Ma armastasin sakslast” etendus sügava teatrielamuse.
