Jonas Tarm pälvis USA autorikaitseühingu ASCAP heliloomingu auhinna

NEW YORK—Eestist pärit Jonas Tarmile omistati USA autorikaitseühingu ASCAP prestiizhne noorte heliloomingukonkursi auhind.

Teosega "Kaks pala viiulile ja klaverile" oli 18-aastane Jonas Tarm üks 29-st esikohta jaganud võitjast sellel tunnustatud USA üleriigilisel konkursil, kuhu tänavu oli esitatud üle 700 teose. Konkursil võivad osaleda noored heliloojad kuni 30. eluaastani ja Tarm oli noorimate võitjate seas.

Tarmile koos teiste Morton Gouldi-nimelise noore helilooja auhinna võitnutega antakse rahaline auhind  üle ASCAP’i süvamuusikaauhindade tseremoonial New Yorgis 24. mail. 

100-aastasel ASCAPil on üle 360,000  heliloojast ja muusikakirjastajast liikme. Varasemate ja praeguste liikmete hulka on kuulunud kõik Igor Stravinskyst ja Leonard Bernsteinist ansambliteni "Rolling Stones" ja "Beatles."

Tänavusi võitjaid välja kuulutades sõnas ASCAPi president  Paul Williams: "Tänase võistluse andekad noored heliloojad esindavad meie süvamuusika helget tulevikku."

Tarm, kes on ka silmapaistev viiuldaja, kolis vanemate Eve ja Michael Tarmiga Eestist Ameerika Ühendriikidesse 10-aastasena. Ta lõpetab tänavu Highland Pargi Keskooli ja Chicago Muusikainstituudi andekaid noori ülikooliks ettevalmistava programmi Akadeemia ning asub seejärel õppima New Englandi Konservatooriumis Bostonis, kuhu ta sel kevadel vastu võeti.

Ta võidupala esiettekanne oli  aasta alguses Chicago klassikaraadios WFMT viiuldaja Laura Parki ja pianist Matthew Hagle’i esituses. Hagle  on Tarmi kompositsiooniõpetaja.

Tarm õpib viiulit Portugali viiulivirtuoosi Gerardo Ribeiro käe all.

Sel aastal on Tarm võitnud veel mitu olulist heliloominguonkurssi Ameerika Ühenrdiikides, nende seas esikoha Ameerika Üleriigilise Muusikaõpetajate Assotsiatsiooni (MTNA) üleriigilise konkursil, Illinois Osariigi Muusikaõpetajate Assotsiatsiooni (IMEA) konkursil ja Chicago Muusikainstituudi poolt korraldataval konkursil Generation Next.

Chicago Muuusikainstituudi Akadeemiaprogrammi direktor James Setapen ütles hiljutises intervjuus ETV-le: "Kui mõelda Beethovenile, Mozartile või Niels Gadelele siis neil kõigil on oma eripärane hääl. Jonasel hakkab see kujunema välja juba nii noores eas ja see on ebatavaline. Tavaliselt see hakkab heliloojal kujunema, juhul kui tal on annet, alles 20-nendates või 30-ndates eluaastates."

Dr. Mark George, Chicago Muusikainstituudi President lisas samas saates: "Jonas on väga loov noor helilooja. Ta on tehniliselt väga võimekas erinevates stiilides ning nii suudab ta tuua esile asju, mis inimesi mõjutavad ning kutsuvad neis esile erinevaid meeleolusid ja tundeid… Meie õpetajad ja õpilased tunnevad Jonast väga andeka noormehena."

ASCAPi tänavuse konkursi kohtunikud olid heliloojad Samuel Adler, Eve Beglarian, Yotam Haber, Tamar Muskal , Roberto Sierra, Augusta Read Thomas ja Randall Woolf.

Aastaauhind on nimetatud Pulitzeri auhinnaga pärjatud helilooja ja endise ASCAP-I presidendi Morton Gouldi järgi.

Tarmi võidupala ning muud heliloomingut saab kuulata Chicago klassikaraadio WFMT kodulehel. See on Tarmi heliloomingule pühendatud tunniajase saate viimane pala.
