Eesti laul ja eesti meel… truuks neil’ jääme eluteel

Selline tugev inspiratsioon on Meeskoori motoks olnud juba 61 aastat, nii sünni- kui asukoha maal. Eesti laul on jäänud eestluse elulõngaks  siiani ja jääb ilmselt  edasi, mis ka ei juhtuks.
Karm talv seljataga, asus koor repertuaari valikuga õhinal suve ootele järgmise heliloojate valikuga: U. Kasemets – “Noore suve muinasjutt”, E. Võrk – “Lauliku kodu”, M. Lüdig – “Põlismetsa järv” ja S. Palmgreni –“Suve õhtu” – Rey Moralese debüütsoologa. Esimene osa lõppes G. Ernesaksa päevakohase “Mai tuli”, tegi südame suvele lahtiseks. Koor võidutses selles laulus noorte tenorite inspiratsioonis, tuumakalt kompaktse bassi toetusel.
Teise osa lüüriline kõrgpunkt saavutati Ernesaksa populaarse “Sireli, kas mul õnne?” ettekandega.
Järgnes realistlik ”Oi, seda hüva õluta” ja oligi kõik. Lõppnumbriks jäi traditsiooniliselt hoogne ja armastatud “Jahimeeste koor” (Freischütz’ist).
“Hakkame mehed minema” oli traditsiooniliseks lõppdeklaratsiooniks, mis kippus venima. Sempre staccato oleks parem olnud. Koorijuhi rõõmustavaks puändiks oli seekord endisest palju vabam tõlgitsus. He had done some good homework.
Kontserdi üllatav kõrgpunkt olid solistid. Rey Moralesega on koor juurde saanud suurepärase häälematerjaliga tenori. Kuigi tundmata autori (Larson) meeleolupalad, ilmselt ta isiklikust repertuaarist, helises laul vabalt, teenides marulise aplausi. Oma solistidest alati valmis lüüriline bariton Urmas Kärner pakkus seekord ameerika G. Gershwini “Summertime” muusikat (Porgy & Bess’ist),  Katrin Veski, kohati domineerivas klaverisaates. Tundehellaks duetinumbriks oli M. Loite seatud Tarvastu rahvaviis “Kodu-kotus”, tuues esinejaile kauakestva aplausi. Teine duet, Rey Moralese – Jaan Kuuma esitluses, Valgre “Saaremaa valss”, oli tenor Kuuma poolt pisut tagasihoidlikult antud, kuigi Valgre on alati tänapäeva lauljate lemmikhelilooja.
Koor lahkus lavalt suure aplausi saatel oma leibkantuse” “Hakkame mehed minema” helidega, ilmselt heal meelel eesti laulule ja eesti meelele järjekordse truudusetõendi õnnestumise pärast.
Soovunelmaks jääb, et vapper meeskoor võiks taas kasvada 60-liikmeliseks, nagu oli koorijuht Loite ajal.
