Mart Sander’s Film Won Best Feature Film and Original Score in NY

Mart Sander’s horror-fantasy “Eerie Fairy Tales”, based on his short story collection of the same name, won the Best Feature Film award and Original Music Score category award at the New York Movie Awards. The film has so far won Best Original Score at the Canadian Cinematography Awards and Best Story at the London International Film Festival. “Eerie Fairy Tales” has now received 7 nominations at the Nice Film Festival, along with Sander’s second film “Behind the Random Denominator” (“Juhuslik nimetaja”).

 

European Commission Proposes Extending Travel Restrictions Until May 15
On April 8, the European Commission proposed to prolong restriction on travel to the EU until May 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic. On March 17, EU countries adopted a 30-day restriction of non-EU nationals’ entry to the bloc’s territory to contain the spread of the virus. Only health workers and researchers from non-EU countries could travel to the EU since then. The European Commission has now proposed to extend the deadline to make sure that all measures against the pandemic reach their full impact.

 

Over 7000 People Participated in Annual Estonian Online Dictation
On April 3, the ERR (Estonian Public Broadcasting) radio station Vikerraadio’s annual e-dictation competition took place for the 13th time. Within half an hour, 7,529 typed texts reached the organizers via the internet, which is the second greatest result in the event’s history.

 

Number of Requests For School Lunches in Tallinn Increases
Last week, when Tallinn announced that hot school lunches would no longer be offered to those requesting it and began distributing food packages for the week, there were 1,200 people who had requested a school lunch. This week the number of those requesting lunches had grown to 11,550.
