Estonian Scientist Creating Coronavirus Treatment in New Jersey
Immunologist Tanel Mahlakõiv (34) is working at the forefront of finding COVID19 treatment in New Jersey, developing a coronavirus drug from placental cells. Soon the work of Mahlakõiv and his colleagues can be tested on corona patients, the March 25 issue of “Eesti Ekspress” reports. Mahlakõiv works at Celularity, a clinical-stage cell therapeutics company now focused on fighting the virus and believes a drug will be available before a vaccine. The innovative drug under development is based on so-called killer cells.
