On June 10th, the New York Estonian House proudly joined New York Music Month for the very first time with BALTICS NOW — an evening celebrating the contemporary sounds of the Baltic States in the heart of Manhattan.

Audiences experienced three outstanding artists representing the diversity and creativity of today’s Baltic music scene: Estonia’s NOËP, Latvia’s Arta Jēkabsone and Lithuania’s Simona Smirnova. From indie-electronic and folk influences to jazz and contemporary songwriting, the evening showcased how Baltic culture continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in tradition with a special emphasis on the Lithuanian zither-like instrument, the kanklės that is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year.

A special thank you to our collaborators and supporters, including the Estonian Ministry of Culture, the Lithuanian Culture Institute, TILTS Latvian Cultural Organization, and everyone who helped make this event possible.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us, especially The Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in New York Dovydas Špokauskas. Your presence helped create an unforgettable evening of music, cultural exchange, and Baltic unity through the arts.

Until next time — Aitäh, Paldies, Ačiū!

Elke-Liisa Lõhmus
