Kes on päkapikud?

pakapikk ameerikaJõulukuul ehk detsembris on palju kuulda päkapikkudest ja nende tempudest. Aga ega kõik päkapikud pole ühed ja samad – kuigi neil on sarnasusi. Võrdleme näiteks Eesti päkapikkude sugupuud Põhja Ameerikas nähtud päkapikkude sugupuuga.

 

Põhja-Ameerikas tunduvad kõige aktiivsemalt tegutsevat “Elf On A Shelf” sugupuu päkapikud, nagu siin fotole jäänud päkapikk nimega “Jingle” (ehk Aisakell). Jingle ja tema sugulased liiguvad päeviti ühest “külmunud” asendist  teise, ikka sinna kust annab majaelanikel kõige paremini silm peal hoida. Öösiti reisivad nad tagasi Jõuluvanale raporteerima, kas käitumine oli korralik või jättis soovida. Kuidas  oled  Sina  käitunud: oled Sa “naughty”? Või oled Sa “nice”?

 

Eesti päkapikkude sugupuu tundub olevat pikemate juurtega ning mitmeharuline. “Suur Jõuluraamat” kirjutab, et Eesti päkapikkude suguvõsas on päkapikke erinevate tööülesannetega, aga täna keskendume piilurpäkapikkudele.

Nende tillukeste päkapikkude vigurite ja nõksude hulka kuuluvad igasugused kardina tagant ja voodi alt piilumised, vahel panevad isegi jalga linnusaapad, mille tallamuster jätab lumele varblase  jäljed, et jälitajad ära petta. Aga üldiselt on piilurpäkapikud ülitugevad ja tarkust täis.

Nii Põhja-Ameerika päkapikud kui Eesti päkapikud on valvsad, et lapsed kenasti käituksid ja oma igapäevaseid kohustusi ilusti korda ajaksid: et hambaid pestakse, tuba hoitakse korras ja tehakse korralikult koolitööd.

 

Siis saab Jõuluvana ka teada, et lapsed on tublid olnud.

 

Jõulupäkapikud meisterdavad ja pakivad kingitusi ja armastavad lastele sussi sisse üllatusi jätta, nt. kommi või puuvilja näitamaks lastele, et nende heategusid pannakse tähele.
