Baltic Countries Reached Agreement on Electricity Trade
On August 31, the ministries responsible for energy in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania reached an agreement to not buy electricity from third countries following the launch of the Astravyets nuclear power plant in Belarus later this year.
With the agreement, it is estimated trade between the Baltic States and third countries will be halved.
The new agreement is valid until the synchronization of the Baltic electricity systems at the end of 2025.
“Superfilm” Tenet with Estonia Scenes Finally in Cinemas
Tenet, the 2020 spy film written and directed by Chris-topher Nolan, premiered in several European countries including Estonia on August 26, following repeated delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The movie stars Robert Pattinson, John David Washington and Michael Caine, the first two of whom were spotted in Tallinn during filming last summer, as well as Christopher Nolan himself.
Tenet was long heralded as the movie which would rescue the industry from the slump and is the first major film to hit cinemas since the pandemic began.
Principal photography took place in Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. in the spring of 2019.
2,500 Tallink Jobs in Danger
The ferry company Tallink Group announced on September 3 that up to 2,500 jobs might be at risk if the Estonian and Finnish governments do not extend salary compensation schemes or travel restrictions are not lifted.
