The largest and most important life sciences business convention, BIO 2018, was held in Boston on June 4-7, 2018 and Estonia was proudly represented by six companies at the world class exhibit.
The convention drew 18,289 biotechnology industry leaders from 49 states and 67 countries.The attendees included companies, patient groups, academic centers, investors, and country representatives.
BIO 2018 set a Guinness World Record for “The Largest Business Partnering Event,” hosting 46,916 partnering meetings between companies. These invaluable business connections form the foundation of innovative industry collaborations and scientific breakthroughs in healthcare throughout the world. Networking is especially important for Estonian start-ups and established companies, and this venue provided ample opportunities.
The prominent blue and white Estonian exhibit stood out from the 1,800 exhibit booths, and captured Estonia’s modern and innovative spirit, “Where bright ideas meet a can-do spirit.” The exhibit showcased Estonia as a world leader in “e-health” and as having niche expertise in biotechnology, genetics and pharmaceuticals.
Participating at the conference from Estonia were representatives from Bioatlas, BioCC, EGeen, FibroTx, Icosagen, and Quretec. Andrus Viirg and Kairit Sikkal from Enterprise Estonia planned and organized the Estonian delegation.
