Estonian rye bread, imported by Amest Foods, was represented at the world’s largest food fair, the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, California, for the fifth straight year. Products are chosen very carefully for the fair, everything must be natural and visitors to the fair must work actively in the food industry. Customers will soon be able to order Estonian dark rye bread via the importer’s webpage.
When and How Will the Estonian Government be Formed?
So far, the Central Party (26 mandates in the Riigikogu) refused to participate in coalition talks with the Reform Party, who received the largest number of votes in the election (34 mandates). The Reform Party proposed talks with Fatherland (12 mandates) and the Social Democrats (10 seats). Fatherland refused, the Social Democrats accepted the proposal, but they cannot form a coalition since together the Reform Party and the Social Democrats would get only 44 votes. The Center Party meanwhile proposed coalition talks with Fatherland and EKRE (19 mandates). Negotiations have been ongoing for two weeks.
“Truth and Justice” Sets Record as Most-Watched Film in Estonia
The film “Truth and Justice,” based on the series of novels by Anton Hansen Tammsaare and made for Estonia’s centennial, achieved a total cinema attendance of 205,595 over four weeks of screening, making it Estonia’s most-watched film since re-independence in 1991. The all-time record was previously held by James Cameron’s “Avatar,” with 194,327 viewers.
Estonian Sailor’s Achievement – Like Everest or Outer Space?
Estonian sailor Uku Randmaa finished third in the Golden Globe solo yachting race, arriving in Les Sables d’Olonne, France, on Sunday, March 10. It took Randmaa 251 days and 23 hours to circumnavigate the globe on board his Rustler 36-class yacht. It was Randmaa’s second time round the world sailing success story.
