On April 19th, Ms. Liisa Oviir, Minister of Enterpreneurship of Estonia, visited the incubator 1776 in Washington DC.
Ms. Oviir was introduced the support systems for start-ups in the US and discussed options for bridging the gap between universities and enterpreneurship: how to ensure that innovation taking place in reasearch institutions finds its way successfully to markets and consumers.
Earlier that day the embassy of Estonia in Washington hosted a breakfast meeting of Ms. Liisa Oviir with Mr. Alvar Soosaar and Mrs. Krista Altok-Tassa from the Estonian-American Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Robert Rudnitsky, Associate Director for Policy from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Ms. Oviir gave an overview of Estonian business environment and economic policies and highlighted that more and more Estonian enterprises are looking for business opportunities in the US. Mr. Soosaar, Mrs. Altok-Tassa and Mr. Rudnitsky shared their views about the US economy and opportunities for foreign enterprises.
