Birgitta festival: uut moodi „Attilast” juudi ufonautideni

Festivali siht on tuua igal aastal publiku ette üks 20. sajandi ooper, otsida maailmast mõne rahva ajaloolisreligioosne etendus, teha midagi ise Eesti esinejatega ja pakkuda piiritagust parimat.

Tänavuse Brigitta festivali avataktid kõlavad dirigent Erki Pehki käe all, kes juhatab Üllar Saaremäe lavastatud Giuseppe Verdi noorpõlveooperit „Attila”. Ooper tuuakse lavale koostöös festivaliga PROMFest ja Pärnu teatriga Endla. Attila rolli laulab noor võimekas bass Valgevenest, 2009. aasta Taevi-võistluse võitja Anatoli Siuko, kellest Pehki hinnangul võib saada maailmakuulus Verdi-laulja. Ka lubab Pehk, et see „Attila” tõlgendus erineb tavapärasest kas või lavastaja Saaremäe pärast.

Kaks iidset rituaalset vaatemängu esitab Kanada indiaanlaste trupp Copper Maker Dancers. Tseka tähendab hulka dramatiseeritud legende, mis räägivad sellest, kuidas indiaani esivanemad kohtusid aegade alguses kõrgemate olenditega ja kuidas maailm on ajapikku muutunud selliseks, millisena me seda nüüd teame. Legendid on esitatud tantsuna ja see on kwakwakwa’wakw-indiaanlaste kultuuri hinnalisim osa. Tseka on püha rituaal, mis algupärasel kujul kestab terve päeva – hommikust õhtuni.

Venemaalt tuleb esinema Moskva ooperiteater Helikon Dmitri Bertmani lavastatud tšehhi helilooja Antonin Dvor˘áki romantilise ooperiga „Näkineid”. Vene rahvusballett tuleb „Bajadeeriga”, looga templitantsija ja ülla sõdalase armastusest. Parimate klassikalise balleti traditsioonide järgi lavastatud romantiline ballett on üks 19. sajandi vene balleti vaatemängulisemaid meistriteoseid. Vene rahvusballett on „Bajadeeriga” võitnud vaatajate südameid arvukatel festivalidel ja ringreisidel nii Euroopas kui ka USA-s.

Festivali lõpetab VoCa People – maailmas aina suuremat kuulsust ja tunnustust võitev Iisraeli vokaalansambel, kelle edu pandiks on peale suurepärase a cappella oskuse ka esinemiskava, mis erineb kõigist varem nähtud samalaadsetest. Kehastudes melomaanidest tulnukateks, teevad nad efektse ekskursiooni planeedi Maa klassikalise, džäss- ja popmuusika varasalvedesse. Lõpuks laetakse VoCa People’i kosmoselaev publiku abiga uue muusikalise energiaga.
