Maailma suurimad meestelaulu päevad Tartus

Ligi poolteist sajandit tagasi kutsus J. V. Jannsen Eestimaa laulu- ja pillimehi Tartusse esimesele ühisele laulupeole. Tänavu 16. juunil koguneb Eesti Meestelaulu Seltsi kutsel ja koostöös Põhjamaade Lauljate Liiduga Tartusse 4500 mees- ja poistekooride lauljat.

Eesti laulupidude sünnilinn võtab sel päeval vastu ligi 1800 välismeeskooride lauljat, 1000 Eesti mees- ja 1700  poistekoo-ride lauljat: ühtekokku 89 meeskoori, kuus noorte meeskoori ja 50 poistekoori.

Põhja- ja Baltimaade meestelaulu päevade peakontserdil, 16. juunil kell 18 Tähtvere lauluväljakul moodustavad ühendkoori Rootsi, Soome, Norra, Eesti, Läti, Leedu ja Fääri saarte meeskoorid. 

Nende hulgas on mitme osaleva maa tippmeeskoorid: Orphei Drängar Rootsist, Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat Soomest, Riia Tehnikaülikooli meeskoor Gaudeamus Lätist, Sangselskabet Guldbergs Akademiske Kor Norrast ning meie oma Eesti Rahvusmeeskoor (RAM).

Meestelaulu päevade kunstiline juht Jüri Rent on koostanud Eesti kooride kava nõnda, et mehed ja poisid saaksid ühiselt laulda nii tuntud teoseid kui ka uut repertuaari. Norra, Rootsi, Soome ja Läti külaliskoorid esitavad oma etteastetes oma päritolumaa populaarseimaid koorilaule.

Nii kuulajaid kui ka lauljaid ootab sel päeval ainukordne elamus, sest esimest korda maailma muusika ajaloos kõlab ligi 3000 mehe esituses orjade koor Verdi ooperist "Nabucco", samuti  Sibeliuse "Finlandia".

Lõpulauludena kõlavad suurelt ühendmeeskoorilt Gustav Ernesaksa "Hakkame mehed minema" ja Raimund Kulli "Kodu-maa".

Lisaks toimub 15 tasuta sissepääsuga välismeeskooride kontserti Eestimaa erinevates kontserdipaikades (Tartu ülikooli aula, Antoniuse õu, Balti kaitsekolledž, Tallinna Rootsi-Mihkli kirik, Puurmanni loss, Lähte park, Jõgeva kultuurikeskus, Alatskivi loss, Mooste Folgikoda, Kanepi seltsimaja, Reola rahvamaja, Otepää kirik, Elva gümnaasium ja Viljandi Pauluse kirik).

Külaliskooride võõrustajad neil kontsertidel on Eesti koorid.
