Kunstnik Richard Söödi teosed jõudsid Eestisse

New Yorgis elanud ja töötanud maalikunstniku Richard Söödi teosed jõudsid pärast bürokraatlikke vintsutusi lõpuks kunstniku sünnimaale ning eksponeeritakse näitusel.
Pärast Teist maailmasõda Ameerika Ühendriikidesse elama asunud Richard Sööt elas ja töötas New Yorgis, kus valmis enamus tema maalidest, sealhulgas ka Eesti kunstipublikule tuttavad «Matterhorn», «Võitlus sarvikuga» ja teised rahvusromantilised tööd,  ütles näituse korraldaja Martin Kumari.

Tema sõnul jäävad näitused Tallinnas klubis Shah ja galeriis Loft avatuks kuni detsembri lõpuni.
«Minu sugulase Richard Söödi viimane soov oli, et tema tööd jõuaksid Eestisse ja eestlased saaksid nendega tutvuda. Pärast pikki eksirännakuid, sekeldusi tolli ja transpordiga on Söödi maalid nüüd koju jõudnud,» lisas Kumari.
Söödi, nagu ka paljude teiste väliseestlasest kunstnike loomingus on olulisel kohal rahvusromantism ja eestlusega seotud temaatika.
Richard Sööt (1903-2002) õppis aastatel 1933-36 Riigi Kunsttööstuskoolis dekoratsioonimaali ja  puuvoolimist, asutas ettevõtte Eesti Tarbekunst ning juhtis Kunstnike Kooperatiivi dekoratsioonitöökoda. 1944. aastal põgenes Sööt Saksamaale ja seejärel Ameerikasse. Söödi aktiivne loomeperiood oli USA-s, kus valmis enamus tema töödest.
