Kui laululained lahkesti….

Teisel veebruaril täitub 60 aastat, mil New Yorgi Eesti Naiskoori lauluhelid on lainetanud New Yorgis ja selle ümbruses, aga ka kaugemal, Canadas ja Eesti laulupidudel. Nagu tavakohane, tähistab koor oma tähtpäeva väiksemas ringis, seekord 3. veebruari harjutusõhtul kohvilauaga. Avalik tähistamine toimub 60. aastapäeva kontserdiga 13. märtsil 2010 – kuupäev, mida on soovitav aegsasti varuda osavõtuks.


60 aasta jooksul on NY Eesti Naiskoor kõlanud küll Beethoven Hallis, Fischer Hallis, Carnegie Recital Hallis, Carnegie Hallis, Merklin Hallis, CBS-i International Singers, Inc. seerias, Toronto Glen Gould Auditoriumis, New Yorgi Maailmanäitusel, rahvusvahelistel näitustel, Central Pargis, kõigil Eesti Vabariigi aastapäevade tähistamistel New Yorgis ja lugematuil eesti üritustel. On osaletud Balti laulupäevadel, Idaranniku Eesti Päevadel, Skandinaavia Pidustustel, kõigil ESTO’del, 1994. a. alates kõigil laulupidudel Eestis ja paljudel muudel nii naislauljate kui ühiskooride laulupäevadel ja rahvatantsupidustustel ning esinetud kirikukontsertidega ja iga-astaste koorikontsertidega.
Esimestest laulukoori rajajatest kuni tänaseni on naiskoori laul rõkanud rohkem kui 150 laulja suust, tegevliikmete ulatudes koori hiilgeajal viiekümnetesse – kahanedes-kasvades-kahanedes, kuni viimasel kümnendil on seisnud 20-25 piires ja alla selle.
