Kummitused laevas.
Elasin koos vaimudega.
Mõned sõnade seletused. “Lazarette” on üks koht vanade sõjapurjelaevade ahtris, mida kasutati haiglaks, nt kui ameerika U.S.S Constitution sõdis Inglismaa H.M.S Victory’iga, siis haavatud viidi sinna. Meil kasutati seda ruum teatrina.
“Port bulkhead” on vasak sein. Plinth on see lisand Ouija laual, mille peale pannakse sõrmed.
The FALLS OF CLYDE had a continuous slide show in the lazarette, where three synchronized slide projectors were projecting behind the screen, showing the history of the ship.
One day, three women came screaming out of there, ashen faced and barely coherent.
They had seen a man emerge from the port bulkhead, walk in front of them, and disappear into the opposite bulkhead. A haunted ship. How marvelous.
At that time, I was living in one of the passenger cabins.
One evening I asked a lady friend to come over and see if we could make contact using a Ouija board.
We went into the lazarette and set the Ouija board on a table.
For atmosphere, I set two candles on either side, and to improve the atmosphere, also a bottle of champagne.
I popped the cork, poured, clinked glasses, and, drawing a deep breath, asked “Ready”?.
She looked at me a bit apprehensively, after all, it was a bit spooky in the dark with the candles, and the ship creaking and groaning as she surged on her mooring lines, and nodded.
We put our fingers on the plinth, looked at each other, and I asked, “Are we alone?” The plinth practically leaped into action and spelled out “No”.
Both of us had the sensation of something crawling up the neck, accompanied by cold shivers.
A pregnant pause, then I asked how many are here, and it spelled out “one-other-man”.
The women had seen a man walking across the room. I asked, “What is your name?” “Kathy”. How did you die? “In a wave”.
A long pause, more champagne, a deep breath, and we continued.
“Is there a sum of money on the ship. “Yes”. Where is it? “In your cabin”.
My friend said that she had just cashed her paycheck, which was in her purse in my cabin.
Then I asked the Ouija board, “What is your name” It spelled “Devil”.
End of experiment. It was weird. I imagine that they are still there, in a spectral romance.
Jah, minu elu on olnud huvitav.
