Aasta keeleteo peaauhinna sai Kihnu aabits “Aabets”

Viljandi Paalalinna gümnaasiumis 15. märtsil toimunud pidulikul emakeelepäeva üritusel andis haridus- ja teadusminister Tõnis Lukas kätte auhinnad 2009. aasta keeleteo konkursi laureaatidele.
Üldsuse poolt konkursile esitatud tegude ja tegijate hulgast valis Emakeele Seltsi juhatus hindamiseks kuus kandidaati. Nende seast tegi oma valiku praeguse haridus- ja teadusministri juhitud komisjon, kuhu kuuluvad kõik taasiseseisvunud Eesti haridusministrid.

Ministrite hinnangul oli 2009. aasta keeletegu kihnumurdeline  „Aabets“, mille koostasid Külli Laos, Reene Leas ja Evi Vesik. 80-leheküljeline raamat toetub legendaarse Kihnu keeletarga Theodor Saare materjalidele ning seob kihnu murdekeele koos kihnulike ütlustega sealse olustikuga.
Rahvaauhinna puhul sai igaüks  kuni 10. märtsini toetada üht kandidaati kas haridus- ja teadusministeeriumi kodulehe või tavakirja teel.
2009. aasta keeleteo tegijaks hindas üldsus Sergei Metlevi, kelle puhul hinnati eesti keelt ja Eesti keelepo-liitikat toetavate seisukohtade avalikku esitamist ning eesti keele õppimise ja oskamise tähtsust rõhutavaid avalikke seisukohavõtte. Sergei Metlev on Eestis elav  vene koolipoiss, kes kritiseeris avalikult Vene suursaadik Uspenskit,  kui viimane väitis, et Eestis rikutakse venelaste õigusi.
Peaauhinna suurus on 25 000 krooni, millele lisandub raamatupoe kinkekaart väärtusega 10 000 krooni. Rahvaauhinnaks on raamatupoe 10 000-kroonine kinkekaart.
Aasta keeleteo auhinda anti välja neljandat korda. Sellega tunnustatakse eel-misel aastal eesti keelele suurimat avalikku toetust ja tähelepanu toonud tegu ning selle tegijat.
