Balti lähiajalugu filmifestivalil

Rahvusvahelisel filmifestivalil Miami’s (2. – 11. märts) esitatakse 100 filmi 35 maalt. 3. märtsil esilinastati siin saksa direktori Hans Steinbichler’i “Das  Blaue vom Himmel” ehk “Promising the Moon”. Filmi tegevus algab 1933. a. Jurmalas, Lätis ja käsitleb ühe läti/baltisaksa perekonna traagilist elukäiku läbi Teise Maailmasõja sündmuste kuni taasvabanemiseni. 

Filmi fookus on  peaosalise Marga obsessiivsel armastusel ja armastuse kaotusel, reetmisel ja  lõplikul andeksandmisel. Flashback’idena on sündmuskäik läbi põimitud vinjettidega Balti riikide okupeerimisest aastail 1939 – 1944, küüditamisest  ning maalt põgenemisest.  

Kuna filmi tegevus lõpeb Lätis 1991. aastal, on haaravalt näidatud rahva vabadusnõudlust ning barrikaadide ehitamist Riia tänavail vene tankide ootel. 

Film on sügav psühholoogiline perekonna draama. Suurepärase ülesehitusega, on ta ka tõenäoliselt esimene film, mis valgustab perioodi Euroopa lähiajaloos tõepäraselt  ja niisuguses vormis, mida varem pole tehtud. Seda nentis ka direktor Hans Steinbichler isiklikult, diskussiooni kestel publikuga. Meie küsimusele – miks ta valis Läti filmile taustaks, seletas ta, et peale Teist Maailmasõda oli ta ema sunnitud Tshehhist lahkuma ja oma esivanemate maja maha jätma. Ema sellest kunagi ei tahtnud rääkida, kuid olles tutvunud tolle ajastu traagikaga Ida Euroopas, otsustas ta valida ühe väikese Balti riigi, kelle rahva kannatused ja katsumused  aitavad selgitada filmi tegelaste käitumist ning emotsioone.
