Cleveland area Estonians participated in the One World Day Festival on August 27 in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.
The Parade of Flags opened the event and thirteen Estonians represented our group. Overall, 56 ethnic groups were represented by a total of 1,500 marchers. The beautiful weather drew a crowd, estimated at 50,000 over the course of the day.
The Estonian garden participated in the Passport program and sold kringel to attendees.
The Cleveland Cultural Gardens were founded in 1916 and the Estonian Garden, with a monument to Kalevipoeg, was dedicated in 1966. The Estonian Garden is appropriately situated between the Finnish and Latvian Gardens.
The motto of the Gardens is “Peace through mutual understanding.”
