Tänavu sügisel tuleb New Yorgi linnas maailma esiettekandele Arvo Pärdi a cappella kooriteos “O Holy Saint Nicholas” (“Oo, püha Nikolaus”). Teosega avatakse New Yorgi Püha Nikolause õigeusu kirik (St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at the World Trade Center site).

Teose esiettekanne leiab aset Püha Nikolause kreeka õigeusu kiriku avamise puhul New Yorgi World Trade Center’i nn ground zero alal ning selle toob kuulajateni Hellenic College Schola Cantorum dirigent Benedict Sheehani juhatusel.

Kiriku on projekteerinud Hispaania arhitekt Santiago Calatrava. Kiriku ehitus jäi 2017. aastal rahanappuse tõttu seisma, kuid 2020. aastal siiski ehitustööd taastusid ning avamine toimub loodetavasti 2021. a. sügisel.

Arvo Pärdi sõnul on Püha Nikolause kiriku taasavamine väga eriline sündmus kogu kristlikule maailmale.

Bostonis tegutsev Schola Cantorum on pühendunud peamiselt idakiriku muusika, sealhulgas bütsantsi kirikulaulu esitamisele. 2010. aastal nomineeriti koor Grammy auhinnale heliplaadiga “A Story of the City: Constantinople-Istanbul”.
