Inglismaal tähistati Iseseisvuspäeva Veljo Tormise autorikontserdiga

Eesti Vabariigi aastapäeval, 24. veebruaril toimus Ühendkuningriigis Veljo Tormise autorikontsert, kus helilooja loomingut esitas kammerkoor “The 24” John Potteri juhatusel. Vabariigi aastapäeva üritustele Kesk-Inglismaal Yorkis on kohale kutsutud ka helilooja ise. 

Kontserdi kavas olid kooritsüklid “Ingerimaa õhtud” ja “Karjala saatus” ning valik Eesti lüürilisi rahvalaule. Autorikontserdi avas helilooja Tormis oma loomingut tutvustava sõnavõtuga. 

Yorki ülikooliga seovad Veljo Tormist kauaaegsed sidemed. Helilooja on seal varem käinud tudengitele regilaulu saladusi avamas ning John Potteri eestvõttel on ülikoolis rajatud Tormise arhiiv. Eesti helilooja seekordne visiit Kesk-Inglismaale sisaldas õpitubasid noorte heliloojatega, avalikke proove ja intervjuusid. BBC Raadio 3 valmistas Tormise visiidi ajaks ette ulatusliku saate helilooja loomingust. 

Üritused said teoks Londoni Eesti saatkonna kaasabil.
