suusapaevad 2014

Over 80 skiers, snowboarders and snow bunnies once again trekked to Jay Peak for the 52nd annual Esto winter fest. Participants traveled from points as far away as D.C and Toronto and were treated to 2 days of blues skies and one day of snow, which for Jay Peak can be considered a weather triumph!

The return to Jay Peak was mainly driven by the great reception provided in 2013 and of course the remarkable transformation of Jay Peak to a world class winter sports destination.

While the crowd was a tad smaller than last year’s gathering, it was good to see some past participants return along with a few newbies to help commemorate our Esto East Coast tradition.

Our customary Saturday morning Esto NASTAR race attracted 45 skiers and boarders ranging from age 8 to 78. The competition was fierce and our Esto medal  and trophy winners are presented below. Raceday culminated with our evening awards dinner and dance that had participants cutting up the floor right up to our midnight curfew.

While the 2015 trip will likely move to a new venue, the initial scuttlebutt is that it’s going to be southern Vermont next time around.
