Baltic Presidents Release Joint "Victory in Europe Day" Message


The presidents of the three Baltic states have released a joint letter ahead of May 8, VE Day or "Victory in Europe Day", when most countries in Europe mark the end of the Second World War.


This year marks the 75th anniversary of what is also the Day of Victory Over Nazism and the Day of Commemoration of WW II Victims.


However, the end of World War II did not bring freedom to many nations of Europe. "By distorting the events of World War II, an attempt is being made to undermine today's Europe," the presidents of the Baltic States have detailed in a joint statement in reaction to the joint statement issued by U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on April 25. 



European Economy in Worst Crisis in History Due to COVID-19


The coronavirus and quarantine have hit the European economy hard: the world's second largest economic region after the United States is in the deepest crisis in history.


And the worst predictions have come true: the European Union is falling into poverty faster than the rest of the world, the BBC reports.



Baltic Countries to Reopen Internal Borders


Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania plan to open their internal borders on May 15 for the free movement of residents among the three countries, it was announced by the countries' prime ministers on May 6.



Churches to Open Doors on Mothers Day


Estonia's places of worship will open their doors once again this Sunday on Mothers Day with services and other smaller gatherings allowed to take place.


Social distancing must still be practised, with 2 people in a group maintaining a 2 metre distance.
